Editor Discussion / Make npc's stand still when you run into them.

So, what i am trying to do, is have an npc stand in the way of an entrance, but then he will physically move out of the way (By walking) using the MoveAI. It works, but the problem is, i can simply run into the npc, and push him out of the way. Is there a way which i can make sure that i cannot push the NPC out of the way, and make him stand still when i run into him?

Well, i put my map into hwm form, to test with my buddies, but i added it to the map folders, and it does not appear as an playable map. All i can tell you is that the map is around 350mb, maybe it's too big for hammerwatch to detect? Thanks in advance.

Technical Support / Hammerwatch and GPU

So, my hammerwatch makes my gpu run at about 80-90 degrees, which i never thought it would do. But the thing is, i run other games like dota2, just cause 2, dungeon defenders, which are more graphical intensive games, but this time the gpu only runs at about 60degrees. This is weird, is hamerwatch meant to run like that?

Technical Support / Urgh, map dissapearing

Well, i spent a good couple of hours on my map, i did go a bit over the top, with a bunch of doodads and like 5000 actors, and something very bad happened. . .


I was adding more design to the level, and then the editor ran out of memory. I went and closed it without saving, (As i had saved it literally a minute ago), and whaddayaknow, i open up the level, and EVERYTHING IS GONE, EVERYTHING, except the tile map :P. All that work is now gone, and i can't find any way of getting it back. WHY WHY WHYYYYYY! Someone please tell me what happened, because i don't want this to happen again. My other floors were bigger than this, more doodads and actors, and occasionally i ran out of memory, but it didn't dissapear, WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! (The time i wrote this, i was very annoyed). Someone tell me what is going on, please :D. Thanks in advance.

After spening hours, i still don't understand what the values do. The first value is left and right, the second is up and down. BUt why is there 2?

Editor Discussion / Editor reloading problem. . .

So, my problem is with my editor. I have made a particularly large map with my friend. Whenever i try to reload (Mainly for debugging purposes), the editor crashes on me, leaving behind a system out of memory error, which i find exceedingly annoying, meaning that whenever i have added new resources, or changed an xml, i have to restart the edtior, which is getting very annoying, and making me rage quit a numerous amount of times when making my map. Is there any method to stop this, or will i have to deal with it?

Technical Support / Editor and Linux... waa

I was told that Hammerwatch wasn't tested on linux. My game works completely fine, but when it comes to the editor. . , oh dear.
I am not sure if it is my fault, i think i am doing everything right, as i know what i am doing.

So i load hammerwatch editor, with mono, it loads fine, and i can use it, when i run the map, while having all the correct xml's, it loads a black screen, and then it closes, and apparently it is open as a process, and on the side, but i can't open it. I gave my map folder to my friend, and he was able to open and run the map, so i don't think anything is wrong with the map, is there suppose to be another way to test the map?

I also don't think, anything custom works. I have successfully made custom music, and a couple of doodads, textures, mobs, which in in my levels folder. The editor doesn't load this as all, so i can't make anything that is custom. Again, i gave my folder to my friends, and all the custom stuff worked and loaded for him, so there must be something wrong with the linux version.

It will probably be hard to fix anything for linux, but please can you guys try, or help me?

I have given on on creating maps as a whole, because i can't do anything, so please fix it :DDD.

Hammerwatch Discussion / Pretty inactive

It seems like the community is still quite inactive. Which i mean, not very many maps being released. I know the only reason i haven't released anything, was that i was forced to format my computer, while unable to back up any files, meaning i lost my almost finished map. The only map i have spotted that is in development is RavenWatch, and (i think) Requiem Of HammerWatch. It is nice when you have a wide range of maps to play, but i hope this new update will encourage more people to create maps. I have kinda given up losing all my work, but i hope to see more maps in the future.


What are your guys opinion on this?

I know you can change the range of the actor, but how do you make it infinite? I tried changing the aggro range and range to 9999999999999999999999999, but they don't seem to find me wherever i am. Any help?

Editor Discussion / Hide lighting Bug?

Whenever i try to use the hide object script on a lighting thing, it works, i have it hide then show when you press a button, but then when i don't see it, it randomly disconnected from the light, and i have to keep connecting it to my scripts for it to work, but it's too annoying. I'm not sure why it does this, is it suppose to happen? I definitely am saving, as i test my level, which always requires you to save it, to test anything new you have added, but this is getting annoying, i can't really carry on with my survival level without this as it solely relies on lighting up places. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I haven't seen many maps coming out, so i want to give away my map (Even though it isn't that good) to people, so they can see my scripting tricks of how i did everything. You can also get my custom mobs etc, and the music. The main part i want people to see is the puzzles i have made, because i struggled allot with it, and others may as well. Anyway, if there's anything you need to ask about the map and whats in it, make a comment, and i'll try get back to you ASAP!

Just extract the zip folder and take a look at my assets. If you want to look at the level, open hammer-watch editor, and in my folder open levels, and  choose any 1,2,3,4.xml each number being a floor. No credit needs to be given id you are using my bad assets.
