Hammerwatch Discussion / Re: Patch Notes for 1.23 (July 2014)
« on: July 03, 2014, 11:30:24 PM »
Everytime I join an on-line match while they are in-game, the background music is the menu's until we change level.
I don't know if this happened in the previous patch because I only played with friends.

I am now trying to translate the minimap icons... I edited them in Paint but it messed up the transparency so now I'm redoing it in Photoshop.
Use Paint.net. Just as simple as MS Paint, but with greater tools such as transparency. Microsoft needs to step up their game. They're late by about 15 years in multiple areas. :)
I have already done it with Photoshop CS6, and it shows perfectly in-game. The most tricky part was changing the tiles' location in the image, and their width (this can be done by editing the .xml files).
The only texts that lack translation are some strings that seem to be in the .exe or somewhere else where they can't be easily modified. If I remember correctly, they are 'Player #' (the generic username when playing in a local game) and the modifier strings (No modifiers, # challenges, # clutches). The official map names and descriptions, too, but those are in the .hwm files and editing them directly cause the maps to become unusable.

Here's the translation files, if anyone wants to take a look:

Nice questions. I'd like to have a tutorial to know how to upload my work to the workshop. I've never done any workshop pieces, and the workshop guide on steam sends me to the map-makers subforum.
I originally asked in my post how to upload stuff to the Workshop, but I edited after finding out how to do it.
You can only upload maps in .hwm format, and it must be done through the map editor.

I've just noticed Hammerwatch has been updated. It's nice to finally have Workshop support and the Priest class!

What I am wondering, though, is if there is any possibility of adding a language option to add official or user-made translations. Or, if it's not possible at the moment, if language files (and those in the menu folder, if they are necessary) can be uploaded to the Workshop in addition to maps. I've just finished updating my Spanish translation with the additions and changes of the latest update and it'd be nice if interested users could have easy access to it.

You can have the game load a different english.xml, however, there are a limited amout of different characters, so a lot of languages aren't supported. Languages using the standard english letters and also the swedish ÅÖÄ are supported.
I am interested in translating the game to Spanish, and apparently the font has all the characters I need.

How can I make it load a different english.xml? I suppose I would have to repack assets.bin, but I do not know how. Editing the .bin file causes the game to crash.
Sorry if this sounded stupid, but I do not know much about editing compressed files.

Today I've been playing around with the Editor and the game's files, and I noticed the language/english.xml file.

Is it possible to make the game load a modified version of it? Not counting map-specific stuff, the game doesn't have a lot of text and it'd be cool to translate Hammerwatch to other languages.
I know how to change text shown in a map, but I'm interested in changing the menu text.
