So I'm trying to figure out how to make doodads/theme_a/a_special_pillar_boss start out as down and when you push the button it will go up and wait a bit and then go down again.
It doesn't seem like the changedoodadstate effect them.

I think that is exactly what they do in the first boss against the maggot queen - have you checked those pillars/buttons for what they do yet?

Yes it is the pillar from maggot queen. That last part didn't make any scene

Just to make sure, do you have the change doodad states pointing to them as objects, and the trigger pointing to the change doodad state etc? Or can you write out how you have the script built right now or post it? I think it might be something simple.

myran says I need to use "lower" and "raise" with changedoodadstate or toggle physics element

To verify doodads states, just open the .XML file of this doodad, you'll have all the different states :)
